  1. Practice Assertive Communication

    Use “I” statements to express your needs without apology.

    How?

    Instead of saying, “Sorry, but could I possibly get a raise?” say, “I’ve delivered strong results, and I’d like to discuss a salary adjustment that reflects my contributions.”

  2. Identify Your Non-Negotiables

    Set clear limits on workload, working hours, and commitments.

    How?

    If you're consistently asked to stay late, try saying, “I’m happy to give my best during working hours, but I have commitments in the evening that I need to honor.”

  3. Use Cognitive Reappraisal

    Reframe stressful situations by focusing on what you can control.

    How?

    If a meeting doesn’t go as planned, shift your perspective from “I failed” to “I gained valuable experience that will help me improve next time.”
